A Little about Captain Kevin Salmon
I have been professionally guiding on the James River since 1993, I have made it a point to find the 50 pound plus size catfish, the true trophy fish making the James River their home. The current State Record is 95 pounds and 11 ounces, caught by Archie Gold on a hot muggy night in June of 2006. I can not promise this size fish but strive to make every trip as memorable as Archie’s.
I have taken my love of catfishing and my passion of preserving the sport and combined them together in a business where I can live the dream of both. My goal is to pass on the real enjoyment I have received from many years catfishing the James River for trophy catfish.
Capt Kevin's Fishing Philosophy
My goal is to create a fishing experience unlike any other you may have had, I strive to put my customers on the biggest fish the conditions will allow. To show them the best fishing trip I can.
Fishing Equipment
You will travel the river in a top of the line river boat, the 24 foot long 8 foot wide Carolina Skiff is one of the best river fishing boats made, it allows ample room for fishing and storage, (personal items such as cameras, video recorders, cell phones and the like should be in watertight float bags.) This boat allows us to fish areas other boats can not access due to their draft, we can get to places most other fishermen only dream about fishing. My skiff is powered by a 115 HP outboard so we can get to the fishing holes fast.
All tackle and bait will be provided for the trips. High quality, dependable rods and reels will help to ensure that when you hook into a trophy you will have the right tools to get it to the boat.
